ABOUT FROGDIVER 44 - SPECIAL EDITION

The new Special Edition Frogdiver 44 boasts a distinctive blue/red bezel commonly associated with diver watches. A unique design element is the inclusion of the Swedish term for mine clearance diver, "Röjdykare," on the dial. Limited to just 44 pieces, this timepiece is the result of a collaborative project between MALM and Swedish Mine Clearance Divers ("Röjdykare"). The number 44 signifies both the watch case diameter and the 44th Mine Clearance Division.

In addition to the Swiss automatic movement from Sellita, the FROGDIVER 44 is meticulously designed and developed from the ground up by MALM and the divers themselves. Drawing inspiration from both past and present scuba gear, as well as the diver's organization and heritage, every detail is crafted with high-performance components and functions. Shapes, colors, and materials are carefully chosen to withstand the demanding conditions of Sweden's cold and dark waters.

ANALOG DEPTH GAUGE

Capillary tubes serve as renowned analog depth meters in the realm of diving. Operating on Boyle-Mariotte's law, they contain no moving parts and consist simply of a tube open at one end and sealed at the other. In the case of the FROGDIVER watch, a capillary tube and analog depth gauge have been precisely milled into the solid steel of the case.

Water ingress occurs via a meticulously drilled hole in the sapphire crystal, leading directly into the tube from the 9 o'clock position. As the diver descends, pressure fluctuations cause the air bubble within the tube to move clockwise, corresponding to changes in depth. A scale linked to the tube displays the diver's current depth.

This ingenious yet straightforward solution is the result of collaborative development between MALM and the Swedish Frogmen, showcasing innovation and functionality at its finest.

DIAL & HANDS

The FROGDIVER dial incorporates various elements to ensure optimal readability in both bright and dark underwater environments. Its dark background provides a stark contrast against the white second-indices, which are luminescent in blue.

Twelve raised indices are meticulously applied with BGW9, serving as bases for twelve custom-made tritium tubes that emit independent illumination without relying on external light sources.

Additionally, a thin, high polished steel circle encircles the entire dial around its perimete enhances the visibility of the second and minute hands. This detailed feature draws inspiration from the gauges found in a recompression chamber known as "Gullan," used to treat the frogmen affected by decompression sickness.

When using your MALM watch, the watch will be exposed to different types of stresses and strains. Like many other advanced watches and gauges, a very large number of components share a very limited amount of space and like other valuable items you should treat your MALM watch with great care. It is important that you do not expose the watch to unnecessary impacts, chemicals, solvents, hazardous gases, magnetic fields or very cold or hot environments.

The timepiece should be serviced and maintained regularly to work properly. Such services should be performed by MALM or a professional watchmaker for warranty terms to apply. We offer many service options for your watch, from repairing and replacing worn components, pressure testing, resealing, cleaning to polishing, engraving and change dials and more.
