Catalina is an aeronautical watch - the perfect balance between a pilot's and a diver's watch. Developed for land and sea, just like the Catalina TP 47 seaplane.
The Catalina Swiss Automatic 43 is produced in a limited edition of 300 watches, 150 in each color. The case design carries attributes from classic aviation and diving watches with sharp lines and contrasting finishes on the lugs and crown guards. The rotating bezel, like the middle case, is cast in solid bronze (CuSn8) and features raised, polished numerals with recessed indices. Like classic diving watches, the bezel rotates counterclockwise in 120 steps and has a robust grip surface. The case measures 43mm in diameter, making the watch easy to read and versatile. The lugs curve comfortably around the wrist, creating a pleasant fit even for narrower wrists.
The first MALM Catalina watch was released in 2019. The story behind the collection is that it was originally inspired by the Consolidated PBY Catalina seaplane, known within the Swedish Air Force as TP47. The TP47 was shot down by Soviet aircraft on June 16, 1952, during the cold war.
