ABOUT THE WATCH

The Air Wolf UTC was originally designed and developed in collaboration with the Air Force's aircraft technicians at the 31st Maintenance Company at F21 in Luleå. The watch was created to track and log working hours in UTC time. Additionally, it has a compact size (40 mm) that makes it convenient and practical for daily use.

The Air Wolf UTC draws inspiration from classic pilot watches. It features a matte, sandblasted and clear sword-shaped hands for excellent readability. Around the case is a steel cylinder that resembles various details and grip surfaces in the cockpit and tools. The numbers and indices are primarily inspired by the J35 Draken and JA37 Viggen. The second hand has a silhouette of the JAS 39 Gripen.

The rotating bezel is placed inside the case and is adjusted using an extra crown positioned at 2 o'clock. The bezel is numbered from 0-24, with markings for 14 and 16, which are the maximum recommended working hours and the maximum allowed working hours for an aircraft technician in the Swedish Air Force. The bezel can thus be used to track and log working hours in UTC time.

MOVEMENT

The Air Wolf UTC is powered by an automatic movement with a complication to display UTC time. An automatic movement is not battery-powered but has a rotor that winds the watch by rotating/spinning as the wearer moves their arm. This rotor, in turn, winds a spring that makes the watch tick. The movement is entirely mechanical and can be inspected through the sapphire crystal case back.

An automatic watch requires a certain level of physical activity from the wearer to be fully wound. When fully wound, the watch has a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement can also be manually wound via the lower crown and can be used in combination with automatic winding.

UTC time is read by a slender hand with an arrow at the tip, placed closest to the dial. The UTC hand makes a full rotation in 24 hours, and is adjusted using the lower crown. The date window is located between 4 and 5 o'clock.
