Originally designed together with members of the Swedish Navy. The watch was developed to commemorate the 500 years anniversary of the Swedish Navy during the spring of 2022 and was available exclusively to members of the Navy. With the new Commander-collection for 2022/2023, the watch is available to everyone and in more colours and variations.
The watch is designed as a naval tools’ watch to be used on the sea. The automatic movement by Seiko is reliable and with a power reserve of up to 41 hours. Water resistant to 200 meter / 20 atm. The bezel features the directions of a compass and can be used for navigation together with the sun with skeleton hands with high visibility.
The dial is protected by a domed sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating for best visibility. The watch is 20 mm between lugs and comes with a steel bracelet with a premium clasp with micro adjustments. All tools to adjust the bracelet is included.
The Commander features several naval details, inspired by Swedish naval history. The second hand features the rank of Commander, or in Swedish “Kommendörkapten”. From the 12 o’clock position and down 112,5 degrees on starboard side there’s a green line, and a red line on the opposite port side. 112,5 degrees is the required spread of the lanterns on a boat. The bezel features the directions of a compass and can, together with the suns direction and the hour hand, be used for navigation. The bezel can be rotated both directions and has a surface easy to grip.
The caseback hosts an elegant compass rose, designed by MALM. It is inspired by various compasses found in old Swedish ships. The compass rose is stamped and gives a 3D effect. The anchor, symbol of the Swedish Navy, is featured on the crown.
When using your MALM watch, the watch will be exposed to different types of stresses and strains. Like many other advanced watches and gauges, a very large number of components share a very limited amount of space and like other valuable items you should treat your MALM watch with great care. It is important that you do not expose the watch to unnecessary impacts, chemicals, solvents, hazardous gases, magnetic fields or very cold or hot environments.
The timepiece should be serviced and maintained regularly to work properly. Such services should be performed by MALM or a professional watchmaker for warranty terms to apply. We offer many service options for your watch, from repairing and replacing worn components, pressure testing, resealing, cleaning to polishing, engraving and change dials and more.
The watch comes in an exclusive, custom made wooden watch box with premium, suede interior. It both protects the watch and offers a perfect display. Inside the box you will also find:
- Strap tool
- Warranty & Certificate of Authenticity card
- Watch cloth
