MALM INITIATES COOPERATION WITH WHITEFOX - 1ST HELICOPTER SQUADRON AT F21, SWEDEN

MALM initiates a new cooperation together with the 1st helicopter squadron WHITEFOX, based at Kallax, Luleå. This helicopter squadron is a the northernmost base of the helicopter fleet, responsible for the subarctic capability. The watch that the squadron created together with MALM uses details, colors and materials inspired by their helicopter 14, internationally known as the NH90.

The helicopter 14 is well-known from media because of the extended procurement back in 2001. The machine is a state-of-the-art multi role helicopter manufactured in carbon fiber equipped with a modern electronic control system. It was purchased as a replacement to the earlier helicopter 3 and helicopter 4 because of its good performance in transportation and rescue operations.

The Whitefox Chronograph 41 is a matte black wrist watch with a DLC coating. DLC stands for Diamond Like Carbon and is a combination of carbon fiber, titanium and nitrogen. The coating is blasted onto the steel surface and cooled down very quickly. The result is a durable and scratch-resistant surface in black color.

The watch is powered by a movement from Seiko, the VK67, a so-called meca-quartz movement that combines traditional mechanical technology with a modern quartz techinque that runs on battery. This movement makes the Whitefox chrono a very reliable and durable wrist watch with a 12 hour chronograph. The watch dial is made out of real carbon fiber and hands, subdials and indices are inspired by various gauges in cockpit. Hands and indices have been applied with BGW9 lume that is white in daylight and glows blue in darkness.

First images of the Whitefox Chronograph 41 will be released in January 2020.
